Where exactly does facial hair come from?

I have these visions of huge coils of hair lying under our skin, which I know is not true, but how does so much hair grow from little follicles?Where exactly does facial hair come from?
Same as any other hair groing from little follicles on any other part oft he body.


But usually whether or not you have facial hair (male or female) and some other ';extra'; body has has to do with your DNA and how much testosterone your body creates.Where exactly does facial hair come from?
genetical from the days when we walked the earth with fur on our bodies, I would imagine we would go back to being hairy like bears if we went nude for hundreds of generations
